My Approach to Helping

I am so glad that you are here, the first step is always the hardest. Whether you’re struggling with anxiety, depression, trauma, or anything else life has thrown your way, I’m here to support you through it all. My approach to therapy is non-judgmental, empathic, and collaborative. I believe that the most important aspect of our work is our relationship. With trust and empathy, we can create a safe environment that fosters awareness and growth.

I aim to help you reach the best version of yourself. While therapy can be tough, you will never be judged for who you are. Our work will be collaborative and will provide you with space to safely be yourself. I have a passion for providing support to adolescents, young adults, and adults dealing with life transitions, depression, identity development, self-esteem, grief, and stress and anxiety, and women’s issues.

This journey may be hard and know that you don’t ever have to go about it alone. If you feel that we will be a good fit, please reach out and we can begin your journey to self-acceptance and compassion.

Specific Issues I'm Skilled at Helping With

I have extensive training skills and very interested in working with children and couples.

“Through trust, we can explore aspects of your life that are causing you stress and help you reach your fullest potential.”

Services I Provide

Services also known as modes or types of mental health care sessions can be given in a variety of formats, including:

  • Individual Therapy & Counseling: This therapy involves only the patient and the therapist. Sometimes called psychotherapy or talk therapy is a process through which a client works one-on-one with a trained mental health clinician in a safe, caring and confidential environment.
  • Marital/Couples Counseling: This type of therapy helps a couple that is struggling with aspects of their relationship. This type of therapy can also be used o help spouses and partners understand why their loved one has a mental disorder, what changes in communication and behaviors can help, and what they can do to cope.
  • Premarital Counseling: A type of therapy that helps couples take the next step in their relationship, resolve issues in their relationship before they commit to marriage, or set relationship goals.
  • Relationship Counseling: Focuses on improving the relationship between individuals by helping them resolve interpersonal issues. The relationship may fall under the marital, couple or family groups or may be in-laws, friends, co-workers or other acquaintances.
  • Telehealth: Also known as teletherapy, generally, refers to individual psychotherapy or talk therapy delivered through technology like video conferencing.

More About Myself

I was born and raised in Boise, Idaho, and received my Bachelor of Science in psychology from Boise State University in May 2018. I pursued my Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Idaho State University and graduated in May 2021. My own personal life experiences contributed greatly to joining the counseling profession.

Whether an individual is experiencing anxiety, depression, life changes, difficulty with relationships or self-esteem, or other areas of difficulty, my aim is to provide an empathetic and non-judgmental stance. My clinical interests include anxiety, depression, relationships and self-esteem, trauma, and life changes. My therapeutic approach is humanistic and I believe the most important component of counseling is trust and the therapeutic relationship.

Types of Therapy

Psychotherapy, also referred to as talk therapy, psycho-social therapy, counseling, or, simply, therapy, is the primary method for treating mental health problems by talking with a mental health provider. The goal is the help an individual better understand their mental health and teach strategies and tools that manage unhealthy thoughts and behaviors.

While there are many approaches to psychotherapy, there is no single approach that works for everyone. A therapist may use a blended approach, sampling techniques from several different types of psychotherapy. The kind of psychotherapy a person receives depends on his or her own unique needs.

Below are some of the types of psychotherapy I utilize.

  • Art Therapy
  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
  • Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT)
  • Humanistic Psychology (humanism)
  • Mindfulness-Based Interventions
  • Narrative Therapy
  • Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT)

Communities I Serve

Community can be defined in many ways, but when simplified down to its most important element, community is all about connection. Community is not just an entity or a group of people, it’s a feeling. It’s feeling connected to others, feeling accepted for who you are and feeling supported.

We’re social beings, and we are not meant to live in isolation. Community is critical for us to thrive, especially for someone with mental illness who is already experiencing the common symptoms of loneliness and isolation. Below are some of the communities I work with to help provide a since of belonging, support and purpose.

  • LGBTQIA+
  • Gay Allied
  • Lesbian Allied
  • Non-Binary Allied
  • Open Relationships Non-Monogamy
  • Queer Allied
  • Sex-Positive, Kink Allied
  • Transgender Allied
