A behavioral health assessment consists of a series of questions, mental and physical examinations used by mental health professionals. The purpose of a behavioral health assessment is to lay a foundation to better understand a person’s mental health concerns. Behavioral health assessments are not intended to provide a complete diagnoses and do not provide sufficient information to reach a diagnosis. Both children and adults may benefit from behavioral health assessments.
