Licensed Professional Counselors - LPC

Licensed Professional Counselors (LPC) are master’s-degreed mental health service providers, trained to work with individuals, families, and groups in treating mental, behavioral, and emotional problems and disorders.

Licensed Clinical Professional Counselors - LCPC

Licensed Clinical Professional Counselors (LCPC) are professionals  who have been qualified to provide psychotherapy and other counseling services. LCPCs are trained to work with individuals, families, and groups to treat mental, behavioral and emotional problems and disorders. The main goal of LCPCs is to use counseling strategies to help people live a more satisfying life, which typically involves identifying a goal and finding potential solutions.

Licensed Marital & Family Therapist (LMFT)​

Marital and Family Therapists (MFT) have a Master’s degree and clinical experience in marital and family therapy. Trained to diagnose and provide individual and group counseling.

Mental Health Counselors - MHC

A mental health counselor (MHC) is a person who works with individuals and groups to promote optimum mental and emotional health. Such persons may help individuals deal with issues associated with addiction and substance abuse; family, parenting, and marital problems; stress management; self-esteem; and aging.
Counselor with a masters degree and several years of supervised clinical work experience. Trained to diagnose and provide individual and group counseling.

Master of Counseling (MCoun.)

The Master of Counselling or Master of Counseling (MCoun) These professionals are counselors who are focused primarily on overall health and well-being of the client. The specializations usually include children and families, school counseling, marriage counseling, and addiction counseling.

Licensed Clinical Social Workers - LCSW

A licensed clinical social worker (LCSW) or a licensed independent clinical social worker (LICSW) has training and experience specifically in mental health. A licensed clinical social worker must have a master’s degree in social work (MSW) and some have a doctorate in social work (DSW or PhD). from an accredited/designated doctoral program in psychology and two years of supervised professional experience, including a year long internship from an approved internship. They are trained to make diagnoses and provide individual and group therapy.

Doctor of Social Work (DSW)

A DSW degree represents the highest level of education in the field of social work. The degree is sometimes referred to as a Doctorate in Clinical Social Work.

Psychologists

A psychologist is trained in psychology — a science that deals with thoughts, emotions and behaviors. Typically, a psychologist holds a doctoral degree (PhD, PsyD, EdD). from an accredited/designated doctoral program in psychology and two years of supervised professional experience, including a year long internship from an approved internship. Trained to make diagnoses and provide individual and group therapy.

Psychiatrists

A psychiatrist is a physician — doctor of medicine (MD) or doctor of osteopathic medicine (DO) — who specializes in mental health. 
Qualifications: should have a state license and be board eligible or certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology.

Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioners

A psychiatric mental health nurse (PMHNP) is a registered nurse with training in mental health issues. A psychiatric mental health advanced practice registered nurse (PMH- APRN) has at least a master’s degree in psychiatric mental health nursing.

Family Nurse Practitioners

Family nurse practitioners (FNPs) can provide general medical services like those of a primary care physician. Like primary care physicians, they can prescribe medication. Family nurse practitioners and mental health professionals should work together to determine an individual’s best treatment plan.
A family nurse practitioner has Master of Science (M.S.) or Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in nursing.

Mental Health Evaluators

Mental Health Evaluations are intended to offer increased awareness of why an individual may be struggling to meet developmental, academic, or social milestones. The process often helps to solidify appropriate clinical diagnoses, but more importantly, works to identify which interventional or support services are recommended in order for individuals to perform at their best across multiple settings. A specialist for a mental health evaluation may be a psychologist or a psychiatrist.
